Rancho Santa Margarita

Nestled between the foothills of the Saddleback Mountains and Mission Viejo, lies the city of Rancho Santa Margarita. Rancho Santa Margarita is one of Orange County’s newest master-planned communities. Since its inception, Rancho Santa Margarita, or RSM for short, incorporates a lifestyle balance of residential areas and commercial businesses that help support the local community. RSM boasts award winning schools and is routinely voted one of California’s and the United States’ safest cities.

Climate

The climate and weather of RSM can be described as Mediterranean. Just like most of the inland-coastal areas of Southern California, the summers can be hot, while the winters are mild to warm, rarely falling below freezing. This makes it an ideal area for cold-weather families that have relocated to California.

Gated Communities in Rancho Santa Margarita

RSM has three private gated communities located in the Eastern part of the city; Dove Canyon, Walden and Rancho Cielo.

Dove Canyon is the largest of these gated communities; is a private residential community, built around a golf course in a country club atmosphere. Dove Canyon Country Club has different levels of membership, from a social membership, to a full golf membership. The Dove Canyon Golf Course is in a beautiful, natural setting, with deer regular visitors to the course, and this highly acclaimed Jack Nicklaus signature course is open for memberships to residents who live outside Dove Canyon as well. There are approximately 1200 upscale, single family homes and 5,000 residents behind the gates in Dove Canyon. Other amenities include a clubhouse, driving range, pro shop, pool, tennis courts, a small child’s park, a wide field, a shopping center (just outside the entry), and a reservoir.
